Background
Operation We Are Here is known for its clearinghouse of resources, and sometimes the options we list can be overwhelming. Our booklist for military children (LINK) is no exception. In response to a request (below) from a military support organization, we compiled this unique page that lists of military-themed children's books.
"We would like to supply some local schools with books that have a military theme. We are hoping to have Veterans come in and read to the children throughout the school year (grades K - 6th grade)."
Kindly note that this is a list of selected books that we feel may be helpful to give civilian children a better understanding of the military family culture; we have sifted through our book lists to see which books would be best-suited for this purpose (again, this is not an exhaustive list). Also note that the titles are linked to the author's website or Amazon.com for easy access to more information about the book.
